Girl math is a social media trend that refers to how many women justify expensive purchases and other financial matters. People typically use it to poke fun at how women spend their money, but some may also use it seriously to ridicule women's logic.
For example, a woman may post, "girl math is when I bought tickets to the concert tomorrow ten months ago, so it's basically free." Or, a guy may make fun of his girlfriend by texting her, "That's girl math," in response to her rationalizing spending more money on clothes to get coupons.
Origin of girl math
The "girl math" trend gained traction in August 2023 on TikTok, partially growing out of the girl dinner social trend. Many female TikTokers began to share their girl math examples, like "Anything under $5 is free" and "returning $50 worth of clothes makes your next $100 purchase only $50." Due to its popularity, girl math spawned the boy math trend.
