What does good shout mean?

When you've had a good idea, someone might say "Good shout!" This slang term is originally British, but has found its way across the pond (and around the world) via social media, forums, and gaming chat.

Relatedly, you might also see people use the phrase "that's a shout" to mean "ooh, that's an idea." Less commonly, you might encounter the phrases "bad shout" (bad idea) or "it's my shout" (it's my idea/treat). Shout, it turns out, can mean idea in lots of contexts.
