Usually, hypebeast refers to a man who feels the need to dress according to the latest designer streetwear trends. This may include purchasing (and bragging about) limited edition shoes, hats, jackets, or other clothing.
However, hypebeast can also be used more generally, to describe any person who excessively buys into and/or evangelizes for an item or trend. For example, someone who continually gushes about how rad Marvel movies are is an MCU hypebeast.
But wait, isn't Hypebeast a website?
Yes, Hypebeast is a website. Sneakerhead Kevin Ma started the Hypebeast website in 2005, to discuss cool kicks. The website has since grown to discuss other cultural trends.
Ma didn't create the term hypebeast, but he and his website are now inextricably linked with it. Hypebeast now influences what hypebeasts think is cool, by building hype through articles, videos, and social media posts.
