Lil

Lil is a common way to abbreviate "little" online and offline. People may use lil (or li'l) in all sorts of situations, including describing a brief amount of time, something tiny in stature, and a young person.

For example, your friend might ask how long your homework will take you, and you respond with, "I'll be done in a lil bit. Calm yourself." Or, you might pick up a tiny frog and share a pic of it on Instagram, "Look at this lil guy I found on my walk!"

People also often use lil in nicknames, such as rappers like Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Bow Wow, and Lil Yachty. Additionally, one of Pawnee, Indiana's most revered residents is a miniature horse named "Lil Sebastian."
