What does NHL stand for?

National Hockey League

NHL is an acronym for the premiere professional hockey league in North America. It was founded in 1917 and is one of the four major sporting leagues in the U.S., along with the NBA, MLB, and NFL.

The NHL was made up of 30 franchises that are placed in divisions within the Western or Eastern Conferences. Winners of each conference face each other in the Stanley Cup Finals and the winner is crowned "World Champion."
