A popular baseball acronym that refers to the amount of runs a player is responsible for scoring.
An RBI is credited to a player when the outcome of his plate appearance results in a run, which is when a player scores. Even if the player gets out, he is still awarded an RBI if his teammate scores. But if his teammate scores off an error made by the opposition, there is no RBI awarded and the run is attributed to the error. If a player leads his league in RBIs, HRs and batting average, he is awarded the Triple Crown, which is a rare feat.
