What does SMP stand for?

Survival Multiplayer

An acronym for the Minecraft game mode that enables players to interact with each other as they try to survive.

SMP is the default game mode when you create a server. Similar to the SSP game mode but allows players to build structures and mine with each other. Players can also fight against each other. Other Minecraft multiplayer modes include CMP, HMP, and AMP.
