What does trill mean?

Trill is a slang term often used in hip hop culture to describe someone as well respected. It comes from the combination of "true" and "real."

The term was made famous by southern hip hop duo UGK (made up of Chad "Pimp C" Butler and Bernard "Bun B" Freeman), which stood for Underground Kingz. The term appeared in their 1988 song "Cocaine in the Back of the Ride." The term has steadily grown in popularity from the 1990s to the 2010s.
