Triggered is a slang term used to describe someone who is angry and filled with hate. A person usually gets triggered after seeing something upsetting or alarming. The term gained popularity in 2016 as a way to describe irritable people, which is fitting because it was a volatile year for many.
Triggered comes from the trigger mechanism often associated with a gun or trap. When the trigger is pulled or released the firing sequence of the weapon or the trap is set off. Being triggered means you have a personality that is easily agitated or you are currently on the edge of blowing up on someone. Also, if you are triggered you are most likely the target of trolls or griefers on the Internet who see you as easy prey.
