Wayment is useful when you discover something and want everyone to stop what they are doing so you can share your newfound knowledge. Or, someone says something shocking, and you say "wayment" to stop for clarification.
Wayment comes from the combination of "wait a minute" into one word as if you were saying the three words quickly. It's been used in the Black community (it's considered AAVE) since the early-2000s but didn't gain widespread usage until the mid-2010s.
Most people use it on social media but you may also hear it spoken in person. It's a somewhat humorous way to get people's attention to stop what they're doing.
