Academic Weapon

What is an academic weapon?

A dedicated student

Just as an arguably-too-intense martial arts student might call themself a physical weapon, an arguably-too-intense academic student might call themself an academic weapon. These impassioned scholars enjoy bragging about their dedication to learning on TikTok and other social media platforms.

Origin of academic weapon

While the term academic weapon has been around since the early 2010s, it went viral on TikTok in September 2022. There, user Bradley Kraut posted a series of videos in which he tried to make learning kewl, by referring to himself and other driven students as academic weapons.

Since then, other TikTokers and social media users have used the term both earnestly and ironically, in videos and text posts showcasing their dedication or lack thereof to all things academic.
