What does BLS stand for?

Basic life support

A healthcare term that refers to the level of medical care administered to persons with life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they reach a hospital and receive full medical care; often provided by paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and laypersons for a variety of conditions, including choking, drowning, and cardiac arrest; mainly concerned with adequate blood circulation and breathing through a clear airway.
