BOMK is a quick way to disclaim that the information you are sharing is all that you know. It is true to the best of your knowledge but there may be facts you are unaware of that alters the validity of your information.
Where does BOMK come from?
The "BOMK" acronym comes from the "best of my knowledge" phrase, and is a shortened variation of TTBOMK. It is unclear when the acronym was coined, but it is one of many acronyms that gained more usage in the late-1990s and early-2000s as Internet lingo and texting became more commonplace. BOMK is also used as an alternative to AFAIK.
Who uses BOMK?
Anybody who likes to shorten the number of characters they use online and when texting may use BOMK. Typically, you'll use it when sharing your opinion about something to also explain that your perspective is based on what you currently know, which could change. It's especially helpful if you don't want to come across as a "know-it-all" by acknowledging that you could be wrong.
