What does champion mean?

A champion is a character in League of Legends (LoL) that is controlled by the player. A champion possesses unique fighting abilities that are used to fight other player- or computer-controlled champions.

In the game, champions are technically controlled by a summoner, which is the player. During the game, the player builds the strength of the champion by gaining items and experience. The stronger the champion the better the chance of defeating other champions and winning battles.

There are different types of champion roles, which are assassin, fighter, mage, support, tank, and marksman. Each champion has different rankings for defense, attack, magic, and difficulty. Some examples of champions include Ahri, Elise, Janna, Kassadin, Lulu, Malzahar, Rumble, Twisted Fate, Viktor, and Zyra.
