DCU

What fictional universe is the DCU?

DC Universe

DCU is the fictional universe (or rather, multiverse) where DC comic book, movie, and TV stories take place. The stories feature various superheroes and supervillains, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Joker, Lex Luthor, Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman.

You will likely see DCU anywhere comic book fans congregate, whether online or in real life (IRL). For example, you might stumble across a subreddit (sub) discussing the romantic relationship between Batman and Catwoman. Or, you may be eating at a restaurant, and overhear DCU fans excitedly discussing their favorite supervillains.

While DCU describes the universe as a whole, people may also use DCU to refer specifically to the cinematic universe, much like the MCU acronym for Marvel's cinematic universe. For example, you might see fans on Twitter discuss the direction of the DCU now that James Gunn has taken over.

I'm so excited for the new direction of the DCU
