When someone has given something their best shot, they may send you HMT (here's my try). Most often, HMT prefaces an attempt to answer a difficult question. (E.g. "HMT: 2 + 2 = 4")
Someone who uses HMT to mean "here's my try" is likely not confident their "try" will be satisfactory. For example, if you ask someone who is not artistically inclined to draw a tiger, they may send you a) their very-best-yet-still-unrecognizable drawing of a tiger and b) HMT.
