LGBTQIA2S+ stands for "lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or questioning, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, and more." This acronym is supposed to serve as a catch-all descriptor of the non-heteronormative community.

The letters in LGBTQIA2S+ stand for:

• Lesbian: A homosexual woman
• Gay: Any homosexual person
• Bisexual: Someone attracted to both males and females (as well as those presenting as male or female)
• Transgender: Someone whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth
• Queer: A catch-all descriptor that describes any non-hetero, non-cisgender person (a non-cisgender person is a person who does not identify with their birth sex)
• Questioning: Someone who is unsure of their sexual preferences or gender identity
• Intersex: Someone born with biological traits that are not strictly male or female
• Asexual: A person who is not sexually attracted to others
• Two-spirit:A person who identifies as having both a masculine and feminine spirit
• +: Any non-heteronormative person the previous nine categories missed
