LGBTTQQIAAP

LGBTTQQIAAP refers to the community of people that identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Ally, or Pansexual. It is a more inclusive version of LGBTQIA and the popular LGBT and LGBTQ acronyms.

People, especially social media users and individuals within the community, began using it in the late-2010s. It then gained popularity during Pride month (June) of 2019 but is not nearly as common as LGBTQ (mostly because it is so long).

What does each letter in LGBTTQQIAAP stand for?

• Lesbian - A homosexual woman.
• Gay - A homosexual person.
• Bisexual - A person attracted to both males and females.
• Transgender - A person who identifies with a gender identity different from his or her sex.
• Transsexual - A person who identifies with a gender identity different from his or her sex and permanently transitions to that gender sex.
• Queer - A person who is transgender or not heterosexual.
• Questioning - A person who is questioning his or her identity.
• Intersex - A person who was born with several variations in sex characteristics that do not fit in the standard male or female category.
• Asexual - A person who is not sexually attracted to anyone or has very little interest in sexual activity. It may also stand for "Aromantic," which is a person who has no interest in romantic relationships.
• Ally - A person who joins together with members in the LGBTTQQIAAP community to help their cause. Some people argue that allies should not be included in LGBTQA since they do not face the same challenges as people in the community.
• Pansexual - A person who is attracted to anybody regardless of sex or gender identity.
