Those who are holding back a belly laugh may use LOQ to mean "laughing out quietly." LOQ is a variant of LOL, used most often by those who currently can't laugh out loud, because doing so would be inappropriate.

For example, if you text your BFF a hilarious joke while they're in church, they may covertly reply with "OMG LOQ; I'm in church." This means your friend found your joke funny but is stifling their laughter, for fear of upsetting their fellow churchgoers.
