Mrs

Mrs is an abbreviation for "missus," a common way to address a married woman. The abbreviation is an extension of Mr that adds an "s" to denote that the person is female.

You may see Mrs in various areas of life, including online, in emails and messages, and mail. For example, your dad may text you asking, "Can you take out the trash for Mrs Brown?" Or, you might email your son's teacher, addressing her as "Mrs Williams."

People typically add a period to the end of Mrs, but this is not always the case. Also, divorced or widowed women may still refer to themselves as a Mrs, and married women may still prefer to be referred to as a Ms (which is typically reserved for single women).
