MRT

What does MRT mean on Twitter?

Modified retweet

When a tweet includes MRT, it means it's a "modified retweet." The user who posted this tweet took it from another user, but modified the content before reposting it.

Usually, MRTs include a shortened version of the original tweet. Shortening the original tweet lets the retweeter add their thoughts to it.

For example, you might see a tweet that reads "So true! MRT @AvengAssem: There hasn't been a good Marvel movie since Endgame." The original version of @AvengAssem's tweet likely expounded upon their opinion that Marvel hasn't made a good movie since Avengers: Endgame.

This is so scary MRT @ScienceGuy: Global temps already risen too much to correct. Humans doomed
