A streamer is anyone who regularly broadcasts on Twitch, YouTube Live, or another live streaming platform. Most often, however, those who reference streamers are talking about gamers who broadcast their gameplay via Twitch, which is the Internet's most popular video game live streaming platform.
While most anyone with a computer can broadcast their gameplay live on Twitch, professional streamers stream regularly (daily or weekly) and sometimes attract audiences of thousands. In contrast to dedicated eSports channels, most streamers are solopreneurs, streaming either by themselves or alongside a small team. This "ragtag" feel can help streamers cultivate a community of dedicated fans, who sometimes subscribe (or "sub") to the streamer's channel or toss the streamer a dono.
After reading the above, you may be thinking that becoming a streamer sounds sweet. After all, who wouldn't want to get paid to play video games all day? However, streaming good gameplay (and entertaining audiences) can quickly become a grind.
