Swypo

What is a swypo when messaging?

A typo caused when swiping

A "swypo" happens when you are messaging on your mobile device's keyboard, and a rogue swipe turns your intended word into a typo. It's a familiar mishap for anyone using autocorrect or swipe-to-type features, especially when typing fast. Your fingers may be too big to type tiny letters, or you may be in a rush to send a message without double-checking it.

Swypos became common in the 2010s as mobile devices exploded in popularity, and people grew lazy in their messaging competency. They are sometimes humorous and may be embarrassing, as well. Autocorrect may make swypos worse, too, transforming people's messages into something totally different than they intended.
