Trade bait is a sports term for a player who possesses talent that other teams would like to trade for. It is used in all major sports but especially in fantasy sports where trades occur more often.
Trade bait can be used to entice teams to take other less appealing players or contracts as part of the trade. The trade bait is usually placed on the trading block which signifies to other teams that the owner is looking to trade him.
