Triple Bogey

What does triple bogey mean?

Three strokes over par

Triple bogey is a golf score that means three strokes over par. It is the worst of the golf scores that have a name, where all scores above triple bogey are referred to as "four over", "five over", etc.

Golf scores are all in relation to par, which is the number of strokes determined by officials for a high class golfer to complete a hole. There are other golf score terms, such as eagle (two strokes under par) and birdie (one stroke under par). Bogey (one over par), double bogey (two strokes over par), and triple bogey are more common than birdie and eagle scores as many golfers are not good.

I just shot a triple bogey, which put me in third place
