Xennial

What is a xennial?

A person born between 1977 and 1983

A xennial is a person born between 1977 and 1983, the intersection between Gen Xers and millennials. Xennials belong to a cusper microgeneration (like zillennials) with traits and experiences associated with Gen Xers and millennials.

Writer Sarah Stankorb coined the name in a 2014 article to refer to people who don't neatly fall into either generation. Because of the prevalence of the Oregon Trail computer game in xennials' elementary school period, some people also refer to xennials as Oregon Trail'rs.

One of the dominant traits of xennials is the acute experience of growing up in an "analog" world as it became digital in the "new era." The rapid progression of technology, such as home video systems, video game consoles, computers, the Internet, and mobile communication devices, marked xennials' adolescence. In contrast, older Gen Xers have more analog experiences, and millennials have more digital experiences.

It's weird being married to a xennial because her childhood experiences relate to millennials much more than mine
She probably thinks you grew up in the dark ages
