The game is typically played in-person, but when it moved online in the 2000s, players created acronyms and abbreviations for common phrases, like 1TG for "one to go."

Online bingo players of all ages may use 1TG when they only have one more spot to fill on their card before they win. These players typically play on a mobile device but may also play on their computer, and chat with other players in the message box provided in the game.
