DTRT

What does DTRT stand for?

Do the right thing

When someone asks you to DTRT, it means they want you to "do the right thing." You're most likely to encounter this acronym while discussing ethical quandaries.

For example, if you discover that your friend Miranda is cheating on her gf Melissa with your other friend Monique, and you ask your friend Michael what to do, Michael may respond with "You have to DTRT and tell Melissa." In this case, Michael thinks telling Melissa about Miranda's infidelity is the right thing to do (and it likely is).

Example

My dad taught me to always dtrt

Sometimes, you just need a bit of encouragement to DTRT
