When you're discussing food, GF stands for "gluten-free." Foods that are gluten-free don't contain any wheat, barley, rye, or triticale - the primary sources of gluten.
Why are foods being GF such a big deal?
Those with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, and wheat allergies suffer ill effects when they eat foods that contain gluten. For example, those with gluten sensitivity may experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, and headaches after eating too much wheat-based bread.
So, these people primarily eat GF foods. As celiac disease and gluten sensitivity have become more well-known, chefs and bakers have developed many GF alternatives to normally gluten-rich foods. For example, you should try my GF brownies; they're delicious.
