EEAT is an acronym coined by Google. It stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness - which are the primary criteria Google uses to assess and rank website content.
Google introduced EEAT in December 2022, as an expansion of its existing EAT content evaluation principles. According to Google, the extra E in EEAT is used to assess whether content "was produced with some degree of experience, such as with actual use of a product, having actually visited a place, or communicating what a person experienced."
You're most likely to encounter EEAT in SEO-related forums and articles, "explaining" how Google's search and ranking algorithms work. In some cases, you may instead see EEAT referred to as E-E-A-T or Double-E-A-T.
