The acronym HBTQ stands for "homosexual, bisexual, transgender, and queer." This variant of LGBTQ is used primarily in Sweden. However, you may encounter it on social media or in forums (often, when reading a post made by a Swedish person).
Given that HBTQ is Swedish, it actually stands for "homosexuella, bisexuella, transpersoner och queerpersoner." However, since the words for these categories of people are similar in English and Swedish, the acronym works across languages.
HBTQ was directly inspired by LGBT and GLBT and first appeared after those acronyms, in the early 2000s. Just like LGBT and GLBT, HBTQ is often expanded to include additional letters and categories.
