Kiting

What is kiting in gaming?

Moving while avoiding attack

Kiting is a tactical maneuver in gaming where a player remains just out of reach of enemy attacks while leading them in a specific direction, much like pulling a kite on a string. This technique allows players to deal damage or navigate through a game's environment without taking damage in return. Kiting is especially prevalent in real-time strategy (RTS) games and Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games, where positioning and movement speed are crucial.

While kiting, players can often exploit terrain, obstacles, or speed differences to maintain distance from pursuers. Masters of kiting are adept at striking a balance between offense and defense, frequently using ranged attacks or abilities to chip away at enemies while their foes struggle to catch up.
