Mickelson

What does mickelson mean?

To hit a golf ball while it is still moving

Mickelson is a golf slang term that refers to when a golfer hits a ball before it stops rolling. The term comes from the last name of professional golfer Phil Mickelson from when he hit a putt that was rolling down the hill before it came to a complete stop during the 2018 U.S. Open.

It typically occurs when a golfer is on a slope and he hits it long or short then hits it again to keep it from rolling farther away from the hole. When Phil did it during the U.S. Open some people wanted him disqualified but he was penalized 2 strokes instead. Be careful who you mickelson with when golfing because some partners may get pretty mad and annoyed.
