Pokédate means Pokémon Go date. It is a form of courtship between two people that revolves around searching for Pokémon through the Pokémon Go mobile app.
Pokémon are fictional creatures that roam the wild and are captured by human trainers and used to fight each other for competition. The Pokémon Go mobile app, which was released in the U.S. in July 2016 for Android and iOS devices, allows you to catch Pokémon "in the wild." The app displays a map with your GPS position in relation to wild Pokémon, gyms, and Pokéstops. As you walk around you can interact with these different elements. Since walking makes up much of the gameplay, it's nice to have a companion, which makes Pokédates attractive. Some popular locations for Pokédates include parks, malls, and popular landmarks. The term may also appear as "Pokedate," which could be misconstrued to be something a bit more forward.
