PSGWSP

What does PSGWSP mean?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes (PSGWSP) is a common phrase used to mock those who make bad decisions and (oh gosh, what a surprise) experience bad results. It is a sassier version of the question "Well, what did they expect?"

For example, on social media, people often respond to fail videos (in which people do something dumb and mess up spectacularly) with "play stupid games, win stupid prizes." People also use the phrase when they see Karens and other entitled people "get what they deserve." For example, a user may respond to a video of a Karen slapping a police officer and being slapped in return with "play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

While the phrase's origins are unknown, it appears to have been around since the 1980s. In 2019, musician Taylor Swift (aka T Swift, aka Tay Tay) used the phrase in her song "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince," further cementing it in people's lexicons. Online, you may see play stupid games, win stupid prizes acronymized as PSGWSP - though most people who use the phrase enjoy writing it out, to more fully express their disdain.
