When someone is killed as a result of taking a dangerous selfie, others may refer to that death as a selficide. As you may have already guessed, this gruesome portmanteau is a mash-up of the words selfie and suicide.
However, most selficides are not suicides. Typically, selficides are accidental deaths, which occur when someone attempts a perilous selfie and falls victim to their lack of caution. So, though someone who died via selficide has killed themself, they likely did not mean to.
