A Texas wedge is a golf term for a putt from outside of the green. The name comes from the dry and hard conditions of Texas golf courses that allow for putts from off the green.
On most courses, putters are only used on greens where the short grass is most suitable for that type of club. The Texas wedge does not refer to a specific type of putter, rather it is used for when any type of putter is used off the green.
