Wagon

What does wagon mean in sports?

An outstanding team

In sports, "wagon" is slang for a dominant team that is performing exceptionally well and seemingly unstoppable. The team is so good it seems like an unstoppable "wagon" flying down a hill at breakneck speed, headed for a championship that will obliterate any team in its path.

You may see or hear the term when sports enthusiasts discuss an outstanding team, whether on social media, in texts, during a live broadcast, or at the bar. For example, you may overhear a Chiefs fan say, "When Mahomes is at the top of his game, the Chiefs are an absolute wagon!" Since the team is so good, fans typically invite others to join the fandom, and get on the "wagon," much as you would hop on a "bandwagon."

Example

did u c hughes' first game with the wild last night?
yea, they won 6-2. they have officially become a wagon
