And I Oop

"And I oop" is a phrase used to express mild embarrassment, shock, or surprise. Now associated primarily with VSCO girls, the phrase originated in the LGBT community.

Specifically, RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Jasmine Masters coined the phrase in 2015, when she sat on a sensitive part of her anatomy while recording a YouTube video. After that, LGBT Twitter users began using the phrase in their posts.

In 2019, as VSCO girls gained prominence on social media, they began adopting (or as some would argue, co-opting) phrases used by other online communities, including sksksk and "And I oop." Nowadays, you're just as likely to see a teen Instagrammer saying "And I oop" as you are an LGBT Twitter user.
