Negative aura is when someone or something is uncool, off-putting, or gives bad vibes. People often use the term on social media, in group chats, and in casual conversations to call out behaviors, styles, or attitudes that feel awkward, annoying, or incompatible with a positive social atmosphere. They may also use it to describe a person's facepalm moments when they look silly or stupid, such as tripping before the finish line or passing gas in front of a crush.
The phrase started gaining traction online, especially on TikTok, Discord, and Twitter, in the early 2020s, to describe people who exhibited behavior opposite to that of aura.
