SMO

What does SMO stand for on social media?

Shout me out

When you want another social media user to mention you, you can send them SMO (shout me out). For example, if an influencer DMs you and asks whether they can use your artwork as their PFP, you could respond with "totes, just make sure 2 SMO."

Some of those who use SMO may be clout chasers, who would sell their firstborn to get an @ from a celebrity or other popular user. Others may simply be looking for some much-deserved recognition, if another user is showcasing their art or ideas without attribution.

Example

Ah, you're wearing the sweater I sent you! Feel free to SMO, don't mind people knowing who sent it
