Stealth Banning

What does stealth banning mean?

Secretly moderating a user's posts

Stealth banning is when a social platform or forum admin secretly moderates a user's posts by limiting who can see them. It is similar to the ghost banning and shadowban terms.

Social sites, such as Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook, are often accused of stealth banning users who break their terms of service. The sites typically target far-right or far-left extremists who consistently share misinformation or hateful speech toward other users. The social site or forum admin may limit the number of users who can see the offender's posts or completely hide their posts.
