Techlexic

What does techlexic mean?

Unable to comprehend technology

Techlexic is an adjective that describes someone who is technically challenged and has trouble understanding, appreciating, and using technology. The term combines "technology" and "dyslexic" (a learning disorder) to create the "technology learning disorder" meaning. For example, a person is probably techlexic if they have trouble bookmarking a website in their browser.

Each techlexic person is unique, but they often share several characteristics. Some common ones include difficulty with basic functions, being quick to be frustrated or anxious, a limited technical vocabulary, and dependence on others.

Additionally, they may be techlexic for several reasons, including a lack of exposure during formative years, negative past experiences, or cognitive inability. For example, a person may be techlexic because they didn't grow up with much technology, or they get overwhelmed with the technical aspects that have previously led to frustration, causing them to shut down.

Example

Mom and dad are gonna be late. They missed the exit on the freeway
I don't get why they don't use GPS
Mom's techlexic so she refuses to get a smartphone and dad is just stubborn
