Yassification

What does yassification mean?

A glamorous makeover

Yassification is a glamorous makeover applied to a person and sometimes an object, such as a house or vehicle. People, often Gen Zers, share yassifications in the form of memes on social sites like TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram.

Origin of Yassification

Yassification comes from the yasss exclamation, which dates back to drag culture in the 1980s. So when you yassify someone or something, it should elicit a "Yasss!" approval from others.

Yassifications gained popularity in November 2021 as the Twitter account @YassifyBot began churning out yassified images of famous people made up to look glamorous (like a drag queen). The yassifications typically include plump lips, prominent cheekbones, smoky eyes, and a fabulous hairstyle.

While these yassifications took place strictly online, they may happen in real life. For example, you may yassify your BFF for a date. Or, a yassification may be a room in your house or a piece of furniture that you are improving.
