YPG is a football acronym for the number of yards per game a player rushes or receives. It is commonly used in fantasy football to measure a player's value since he gains many of his points through yards.
The YPG stat is popular in football because the more yards a player gains in a game the better the offense is because of the player. However, the stat does not indicate how or when the yards were gained. This can be misleading to people just looking at the number since many players may gain big chunks of yardage during garbage time when the game is already decided.
