While autochasing sounds like a high-speed car chase, it actually refers to the pursuit of a person's autograph. For example, an individual might engage in autochasing to secure the autograph of a famous baseball player for their prized rookie card.
Due to the high demand for collector items, autochasing is widespread in collectibles. Common examples include sports cards and items, photos, comic books, toys, and apparel.
Negative perception
Despite many autochasers being polite and respectful, the practice is sometimes marred by individuals who are overly aggressive or pushy. These individuals may disrupt celebrities during private moments, such as meals, or behave inappropriately by cutting in front of children to secure autographs from well-known athletes.
