Skibidi is a viral Internet phenomenon that has no inherent meaning. It is a nonsensical utterance that people may use in various situations, including as an adjective (could mean "dumb," "cool," or "bad" depending on the context) or as a filler gibberish word (similar to yeet when throwing something).
Origin of Skibidi
The slang term "skibidi" originated in 2018 from a catchy and absurd song by the Russian rave band "Little Big" released the same year. The song gained popularity across social media platforms, especially its accompanying dance, leading people to recreate it in their own videos and generate memes.
TikTok played a major role in amplifying the dance trend when Turkish TikToker Yasin Cengiz went viral with a belly-bouncing dance to the song "Dom Dom Yes Yes" by Biser King in 2022. It then evolved further with the help of the Skibidi Toilet YouTube Shorts series (leading to "Skibidi Toilet Syndrome") that led to countless memes and eventual use as a nonsensical slang term, especially among Gen Zers and Gen Alphas.
