MMORPG players use BOU to stand for "bind on use." This acronym is similar to BOE (bind on equip) but used to discuss items that are used, not equipped.
For example, in World of Warcraft (WoW), players may use BOU to discuss small pets. If a player has not yet used a small pet, they can trade or sell the item to other players. But if the player has used the pet, the pet is bound to them - meaning the player can no longer trade or sell the item to other players (though they can still sell it to NPC vendors).
