Masters of the Universe
Fans of He-Man and Skeletor know that MOTU stands for "Masters of the Universe." Debuting in 1982, MOTU quickly became a sprawling toy and multimedia franchise, which still releases new content to this day.
While MOTU began as an action figure line, its most famous iteration is the Filmation animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which ran from 1983 to 1985. The series starred Prince Adam, who used his Power Sword to transform into the titular He-Man and battle the evil Skeletor.
He-Man and the MOTU spawned a variety of spin-offs and tie-in material, including additional animated series, comic books, toys, and games. Most recently, He-Man's sister, She-Ra, starred in her own Netflix animated series, titled She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
