Natty

In sports, "natty" is a playful abbreviation of "national championship" (similar to ship), the game that crowns the champion of a league. People often use it in college athletics, including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey.

For example, a college student may tell his friend, "If we win the natty, I'm going to lose my mind." Or, a player may shout in an interview, "We're going to the natty!"

People may also use natty in professional sports, although professional championships typically have unique names, like "Super Bowl" (SB) in football and "World Series" (WS) in baseball.

In the fitness world, "natty" describes people who are "natural," which means they haven't taken any performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), such as HGH or anabolic steroids. For example, your friend may remark about a bodybuilder, "He's so ripped, all while being natty, too."

You will likely see or hear natty in various fitness contexts, including weightlifting forums or gyms. There are also groups on social sites (like Reddit) where users post pics of impressive physiques to get others' opinions on whether they are juiced or natty.

An example of when you might see natty is when a user posts in a forum, "How do I get swoll but stay natty at the same time?" Or, your friend may exclaim to you after a workout, "You sure you haven't juiced, bro?" to which you reply, "All natty, bruh!"

In the beer world, "natty" is short for "Natural Light," a reduced-calorie light lager made by Anheuser-Busch. While adults drink Natural Light, too, the drink (and natty abbreviation) is a favorite among college students because it is relatively inexpensive.

Or, you might reminisce about the "good ole days" with friends from college, "I had a natty for the first time in years, and it took me back to Junior year. Good times."
